Another gorgeous fall day in New England, a perfect setting to this recent engagement session. I met C & B up at the Old North Bridge in Concord, MA, to capture some late afternoon golden light. This area holds a lot of meaning to them, and made for the perfect setting to mark this new chapter in their lives.

We dodged the crowds of other people who also thought it was the perfect day for some leaf-peeping and visiting some historic landmarks, and had a blast doing so. I think I laughed through the entire session! This was no surprise to me, as C and I are good friends from my old job, and spent many hours cracking each other up.

Featured: Style Lush Giveaway

November 18, 2009

Some amazingly talented friends of mine run a blog called Style Lush. They post daily about all sorts of fun stuff: fashion, kids toys and clothes, food, beauty products, and today, they posted about ME! I was so flattered when Jennie approached me about doing a print giveaway on Style Lush. I’ve been reading the contributors individual blogs for quite some time now, and to be featured in their new venture is such an honor. I love this blog already, and have gotten some great ideas and tips from it.

I picked out a few of my favorite non-people images from the past couple of years, and compiled them in a Flickr set. I’m giving away a mounted 8×10 to one lucky commenter over there (not here!), so make sure you head on over and comment if you want a chance to win! While you’re over there, you should probably look around, get addicted like I did, and add them to your feed reader. :) You’ll be missing out if you don’t!

And since I can’t post without including a couple of images, here are just a couple included in the set the winner will be able to choose from.

Thank you, Style Lush, for this wonderful opportunity! I’m humbled, and so excited to share my passion for photography with your readers.

You have to love those bright sunshine-filled days in the late fall, where the air is crisp, the sky is saturated in blue, and the leaves are bursting with color. I met little H and his mom at their home in Cambridge last weekend, only a few days before his first birthday, and we totally lucked out with a day just like this. We decided to take full advantage of the gorgeous weather, and headed out to the park near their house to play on the swings and slide.

H is such a happy little boy, he loved watching all the dogs running around, and the little kids playing soccer. He was a little shy about the giant camera attached to my face, but that was nothing that a little game of peek-a-boo behind the slide couldn’t fix.

H is alllmost walking on his own–in fact, he may be by now!

Personal: Views from Home

November 11, 2009

Taking a quick break from all of these gorgeous kiddos and families to bring you a burst of color. :-)

Foliage is past its peak here, but the last few days have been nothing short of gorgeous. High 60s, low 70s, sunny, dry, just amazing. I wish every day was like this!

I realized while crunching through the leaves on our morning walk today, that I never posted these images I took last time I was home at my parents’ house. I was there while the foliage was still in peak season, so my husband, daughter, and her Nana (my mom) went for a drive around sunset one afternoon. While Nana preoccupied the baby in the backseat, I kept making my husband pull over to snap these:

Dorothy had it right, didn’t she?? There’s just no place like home.

Senior Year can be such a pivotal point in anyone’s life. Because after graduation, what next? College? A full-time job? Your own apartment? There are so many big decisions to make, and big changes to experience.

I took a short road trip to Abington last weekend, to meet up with C and her mom. C is in the middle of her senior year in high school–how old do I feel! It seems almost like yesterday though–soccer games, hanging out with my lifelong friends…and don’t forget all those college applications. Although, back when I was a senior, I had to hand-write all those essays and forms!

It was a windy day out for our session, but the rain held off for once, which was nice. And all of the falling and fallen autumn leaves made for a colorful backdrop!

Here are some of my faves from our session.

Thank you, C, for a fun morning! And best of luck on all 12 (!!) college applications, any of the schools you’re looking at will be lucky to have you. :)

My little brother and his fiancee are getting married next summer on the Cape, and they were over a couple of weekends ago to hang out. We don’t get to see each other nearly as much as we want to, with our crazy schedules the way that they are, so it was so awesome to see them.

While they were here, I dragged them out into our yard to take a couple quick engagement photos, while we still had the gorgeous fall colors. And luckily, we’ve been lazy about getting the yard cleaned up for the winter, so there were plenty of leaves around to provide a vibrant backdrop.

And, finally, my favorite. Again, I already posted this on Facebook as a sneak peek, I couldn’t wait until the blog post!

We can’t wait until the wedding next summer, it’s going to be SO FUN. Woooo!!

Little M here is just about 3 months old, and was such a sweetheart to photograph! He is so laid back and easy-going–quite the opposite of what I’m used to in our house.

I’ve known M’s dad since high school (maybe even earlier??), and it was great to see him again! He and his wife own an AMAZING pizza/pasta/panini restaurant in East Boston called Dough. You HAVE to go check it out if you’re in the area. They made me a stromboli to bring home, and omg, it was so, SO good. If we lived closer, I’d probably be in daily…and my hips would NOT be happy, haha.

M’s mom took me to a gorgeous park overlooking the city for our session:

I do really miss places like this, living in the suburbs. It was such a treat to come here for a little while.

So, back to Mr. M. Talk about laid-back! He barely made a peep while we were shooting, he was unfazed. And his HAIR, well, it just speaks for itself. Have a look:

200910_Curley.web_004And that’s all-natural! How cute is that??

We just had to get the skyline in the background for one shot.

And finally, my favorite. Something about this one…

Thank you, C family, for your sweet hospitality and a fun afternoon! It was really great to catch up, and my husband is STILL asking when I’m going to bring him to Eastie to eat at Dough. He’s addicted! :)
