This has become one of my favorite images I’ve ever taken of Lila. She had no idea I was shooting this, and I was a few feet from her. She’s engrossed in a Halloween card that came for her in the mail today. The card is from a dear friend of ours, who is getting married in two days. TWO DAYS. She has a million things to get organized and finished for Saturday, yet she thought to send Lila a Halloween card, covered in specially bought Sesame Street stickers of the characters in costumes (which were a HUGE hit, by the way).

This was one of those times I silently gave thanks for whatever it was that made me pick up a camera. Because now I can give these moments I’ve captured to Lila. I can show her how much people love her, and how amazing our friends and family are. We are truly lucky to have the people in our lives that we do, and I will never be able to thank them enough.

She will likely never remember this moment, but I will never forget it.
