Archive for February, 2011

I went to high school with the mom of this lovely family. When her mom got in touch with me about gifting a session to her daughter for their anniversary, I jumped at the chance to catch up with my old friend. See, I consider myself supremely lucky to grow up where I did. Sure, at the time I took it all for granted, and was the typical whiny teenager.

“Mom, there’s nothing to dooo!”

“I’m bored!”

“I can’t wait to get out of this place!”

Looking back these past few years, I realized my good fortune at growing up out in the boonies. Knowing almost everyone in town. Feeling safe no matter what time of day (or night) it is. Not knowing what Marc Jacobs, Anthropologie, Nordstrom, or premium denim even were until college (although I’m sure my husband wishes I STILL didn’t know about any of that designer stuff).  I’ve also made some amazing friends. People who I will always be comfortable around, no matter how much time has passed. Who I can catch up with and leave out parts of stories, because they were there for those parts, they already know the background. I love catching up with my childhood friends, I wish I could do it every day. :)

7|52 Signs of Spring

February 18, 2011

I'm probably jinxing us with 6 more snow storms by even using that title, but I just can' t help i

t. It's been a LONG winter. It's almost 60 degrees out today, if not warmer. The heat is off. The windows are open. The sun is shining, and oh boy, does it feel amazing.

The playgroup girls (minus one, who is sick, poor thing!) came over here this morning, and we went splash in some puddles created by the melting snow. Lila was SOAKED, and having the time of her life. (And yes, I stuffed her into a too-small jacket, I haven't gotten her spring wardrobe just yet!)
