I know, I’m still behind. :) Here is last week’s photo. I took it on Saturday, when we were at my inlaws’  house for the weekend. This is our daughter with her grandfather. He just LOVES her, and the feeling is mutual. She was such a ham all weekend, and loved seeing her grandparents.

9|52 Oh, The Drama

March 3, 2010

This week’s image is a little proof that our daughter is quite the drama queen. She’s not the easiest baby, or the most laid back, by ANY means. Good thing she’s too cute for words. ;-)

Lila sitting on the deck, upset; taken by MA children's photographer Megan Moore.

We were outside yesterday enjoying the warm-ish temps (I think it was in the 40s–so TOTALLY going outside weather!), and Lila realized that she didn’t know what a lot of things were out there. She’s starting to remember what things are, and be interested in exploring and learning, so now–everything scares her. Twigs, pine needles, wood chips–you name it, she’ll cry if you ask her to hold it. It will just take some getting used to, I’m sure she’ll be running down the front walk in no time.

And just for further proof of her dramatic ways, no less than 30 seconds later, here is the next shot I snapped:12 month old Lila playing with a cell phone, taken by MA photographer Megan MooreTotally fine, and playing with my phone. She certainly knows my weaknesses!

This one. This little smiling, impish, playful one below? She turns one year old tomorrow. A YEAR. I just can’t believe we’re already here.

All day long, I’ve been saying to her, “last year at this time, I was…”. It’s been such an emotionally filled day. It’s so wild to think that at last year right now, we didn’t know who we were about to meet. Who was about to steal our hearts, and bring us incredible happiness. And now, it’s impossible to think of our lives without her.

Tomorrow we are having a party for her. To celebrate the past year, and to just enjoy this crazy little girl who changed our world. We’re also going to the NICU in the morning. To say thank you to the amazing people there, without who we may be telling a different story right now.

Happy Birthday, Peanut! Get ready for your first taste of cake tomorrow! If you’re anything like me, there’s no turning back. Your dad & I love, love, love you.

I know, you’re probably wondering where I’ve been! Easy answer? Swamped.

Longer answer, I’ve been editing, shopping, wrapping, editing, ordering, delivering, shipping, designing, editing, uploading, and decorating. Did I mention editing?

What a craaazy time of year! But I think I am finally caught up on most things. We are ready for Christmas this week (yay!), and I am mostly caught up on sessions. My husband got me a fabulous gift for Christmas this year (yes, I’m a surprise ruiner, I know what it is), I will post it once I get it. :)

In the meantime, I just had to share these images from a recent session. This little guy was born two days after our daughter, and is pretty much the opposite of her–mellow, laid-back, and quiet. He was a dream to photograph! Can you believe those blue eyes? Gorgeous.

I have a killer post on tap for soon–may not be until after the holidays. SO many awesome images to choose from, and will coincide with a little announcement from me–a new business interest for 2010! I get so excited thinking about it, I have a feeling 2010 is going to be a GREAT year.

This family is one of my favorite families in the world. We’ve been friends since before all the girls were born (theirs and ours), and have had so much fun since we moved out near them about 3 years ago. I love watching the girls grow up together, and hope we’ll be living near each other for a long time!

Last time we were over, mom and I took on all 4 girls (I had L with me), and attempted a mini-session for some Christmas cards. I’m not going to show the photos they picked for their cards (but I may be doing a post with a bunch of my clients’ card choices after the holidays, so stay tuned!), but I just HAD to share some of my faves from the day.

Mom had the CUTEST matching red dresses for the girls, which we did first, before everyone got antsy.

We also went outside to play in all the leaves. The girls loved this!

(I had to sneak in the shot below of my daughter in the wagon with little M, they are TOO funny together.)

And just the sweetest moment (this was totally unprovoked, I’m so happy I saw this!):

D Family, we love you guys! I’m sure we’ll have many more days like these as the girls grow up, and we can’t wait. :)

You have to love those bright sunshine-filled days in the late fall, where the air is crisp, the sky is saturated in blue, and the leaves are bursting with color. I met little H and his mom at their home in Cambridge last weekend, only a few days before his first birthday, and we totally lucked out with a day just like this. We decided to take full advantage of the gorgeous weather, and headed out to the park near their house to play on the swings and slide.

H is such a happy little boy, he loved watching all the dogs running around, and the little kids playing soccer. He was a little shy about the giant camera attached to my face, but that was nothing that a little game of peek-a-boo behind the slide couldn’t fix.

H is alllmost walking on his own–in fact, he may be by now!

Thank you guys for a such a fun Saturday morning! It was so nice to meet you, H is such a sweetheart.

Little M here is just about 3 months old, and was such a sweetheart to photograph! He is so laid back and easy-going–quite the opposite of what I’m used to in our house.

I’ve known M’s dad since high school (maybe even earlier??), and it was great to see him again! He and his wife own an AMAZING pizza/pasta/panini restaurant in East Boston called Dough. You HAVE to go check it out if you’re in the area. They made me a stromboli to bring home, and omg, it was so, SO good. If we lived closer, I’d probably be in daily…and my hips would NOT be happy, haha.

M’s mom took me to a gorgeous park overlooking the city for our session:

I do really miss places like this, living in the suburbs. It was such a treat to come here for a little while.

So, back to Mr. M. Talk about laid-back! He barely made a peep while we were shooting, he was unfazed. And his HAIR, well, it just speaks for itself. Have a look:

200910_Curley.web_004And that’s all-natural! How cute is that??

We just had to get the skyline in the background for one shot.

And finally, my favorite. Something about this one…

Thank you, C family, for your sweet hospitality and a fun afternoon! It was really great to catch up, and my husband is STILL asking when I’m going to bring him to Eastie to eat at Dough. He’s addicted! :)

My family and I took a trip back to where I grew up over Columbus Day weekend. It is beautiful out there any time of year (well, except maybe from January-March…), and we were coming up on the end of peak foliage season, so I wanted to go out for a few days to relax and enjoy it.

We visited the ‘rents, and I was lucky enough to meet up with my longest-known friend (almost wrote “oldest”, but realized how that sounded!), and her amazing family, to get some updated family photos. Mom and I have known each other since we were a few months old, and I still remember the days of sleeping over her house (ask her about how I’d wake up super early to read all of her Babysitter’s Club books, haha), and her teaching me how to curl my bangs. And now we’re both moms with families of our own! Although, with her adorable twin boys, I have a feeling it’s going to be more about sports and trucks than Babysitter’s Club and hair in her house. :)

I’ve been photographing these little guys since they were months old, and now they’re TWO. Time flies!! They are the most energetic boys, they loved running all over their yard, having tickle fights with mom, being tossed in the air by dad, and dancing to “ashes, ashes, they all fall DOWN!”.

We also ran up to the nearby apple orchard for some quick photos at the end, make sure you scroll to the bottom of this post to see the fabulous Berkshire County foliage!

(Being tickled by mom, they were cracking up!)

ODonnell3(I wouldn’t normally include two similar shots, but I just couldn’t pick between the two of dad tossing E in the air!)

And finally, those of you who are fans on Facebook have already seen this, it is my fave so far. I am in love with this shot!

OD Family, thank you guys so much for such a fun day! We loved catching up with you, hopefully we will see you again over the holidays. xoxo

I met up with the W family last weekend to take some photos of their little girl, C. They were gracious enough to reschedule our original session, since Mother Nature has had it in for me this fall, and keeps sending pouring rain for my sessions. Thankfully, our rescheduled day was a gorgeous, beautiful, bright fall day in New England. Take that, Mother Nature!

C just turned one recently, and literally had taken her first steps a couple of days before our shoot! By the time I showed up, she was running around like a pro, you’d never guess she just picked up this new skill. Since the weather decided to cooperate, we were able to go outside for some of the session, so C could play on her awesome swing set, and practice her walking and running.

Thank you, W family, for welcoming me into your beautiful home!

I met up with this adorable family at their home in New Hampshire a couple of weekends ago, for a shoot with 15 month old twins, and their almost-2-year-old cousin.

We had big plans for some outside shots of them running around, playing, and enjoying the late summer weather. Well, wouldn’t you know it, Mother Nature had other plans for us. Saturday arrived with 60 degree weather, torrential rains, and gusty winds. We decided to make the most of it, and just bring the shoot indoors instead! The family was ever so gracious to me, traipsing around their beautiful home, on the search for some pretty light and fun settings.

(S. was such a ham for the camera, I wanted to take him home with me!)

Kellner3

(Mr. M, on the other hand, was NOT impressed with me. I think I won him over by the end though.)

I think this one might be my favorite though. I can’t take the cuteness, I LOVE it!

K family, your gallery will be up shortly! Thanks for a wonderful session, you were all awesome. You ARE awesome.  We will definitely plan for a late afternoon golden sunlight shoot for some other time. :-)
