Remember this little one? She’s a big sister now! I recently went back to the home of some of my favorite clients ever, to meet their new little man, and get some photos of him. C is still the same ham she was last year, just with longer hair and more words. :) She’s a great big sister to new baby B, who is fitting right in with his wonderful family.

I just had to get a few of C too, how could I resist this face??

B was starting to get a little tuckered out, but we snapped a couple of quick shots with his sister, mom, and grandma. It was so great seeing 4 generations of their family together!

B finally gave in, and passed right out on the couch outside–how I wish my daughter would do that!

We did manage to sneak one last shot in–I think it says it all. :)

W family, it was so great to see you guys, congratulations again on B, he is precious!

I took pictures of Big Brother S way back when he was 9 weeks old, and so when Little Brother J arrived on Valentine’s Day, it was only fitting that we get some shots of him at the same age as well. I gladly swooped in on this chance to hang out with this wonderful family again, and to create some new memories with them.

J was slightly less than impressed with me, and with my camera. Always with the suspicious look on his face, I’m convinced he was just making sure he didn’t have to share his toys with me, in addition to his older brother.

S wasn’t really up for sitting still this morning, but we still managed to grab a couple of shots of him being “gentle!” with little J.

The next few I LOVE, because they’re not posed. I just had everyone sit on the couch, and watched them interact with each other. I completely love images like this. This is their life, their home, their love. And it’s amazing.

I think it’s safe to say at least one brother warmed up to me by the end of the session. :) (That’s my knee in the corner of the first one, he was *very* excited about seeing his mug on the back of the camera after I took each shot. It was too cute!)
Goupil3
I get a lump in my throat from this one. Again, not posed at all, they were just waiting for mom to come back with S, who was building me a pyramid on the floor. :)

And one last one from Mr. Suspicious. This image pretty much sums up his feelings for me…at least for now. I’ll win him over eventually!

Inevitably, we photographers will run into “the difficult session”. The child who wants nothing to do with us, the outdoor family session scheduled during torrential rains, the newborn who only wants to exercise their new lungs instead of sleep. We never let on during these sessions, and just smile and do what we do — because that’s our job. We figure it out, and we push for every shot.

And then you have a session, like this one. Where everything just falls into place, and you wonder why you ever did anything different for work. You walk away encouraged, inspired, and fulfilled.

This family was awesome. M here is about 9 months old–not normally the easiest age for toddlers. He’s not quite standing, not quite walking, but definitely sitting. And grinning. And clapping. Basically, he’s just being the cutest 9 month old ever, as well as the easiest I’ve ever worked with. Tell me you can resist his charms. I dare you.

A, D, & M, you guys truly made my Sunday. It was so fun hanging out with you, we will definitely have to do this again soon!

My family and I took a trip back to where I grew up over Columbus Day weekend. It is beautiful out there any time of year (well, except maybe from January-March…), and we were coming up on the end of peak foliage season, so I wanted to go out for a few days to relax and enjoy it.

We visited the ‘rents, and I was lucky enough to meet up with my longest-known friend (almost wrote “oldest”, but realized how that sounded!), and her amazing family, to get some updated family photos. Mom and I have known each other since we were a few months old, and I still remember the days of sleeping over her house (ask her about how I’d wake up super early to read all of her Babysitter’s Club books, haha), and her teaching me how to curl my bangs. And now we’re both moms with families of our own! Although, with her adorable twin boys, I have a feeling it’s going to be more about sports and trucks than Babysitter’s Club and hair in her house. :)

I’ve been photographing these little guys since they were months old, and now they’re TWO. Time flies!! They are the most energetic boys, they loved running all over their yard, having tickle fights with mom, being tossed in the air by dad, and dancing to “ashes, ashes, they all fall DOWN!”.

We also ran up to the nearby apple orchard for some quick photos at the end, make sure you scroll to the bottom of this post to see the fabulous Berkshire County foliage!

(Being tickled by mom, they were cracking up!)

ODonnell3(I wouldn’t normally include two similar shots, but I just couldn’t pick between the two of dad tossing E in the air!)

And finally, those of you who are fans on Facebook have already seen this, it is my fave so far. I am in love with this shot!

OD Family, thank you guys so much for such a fun day! We loved catching up with you, hopefully we will see you again over the holidays. xoxo

I met up with the W family last weekend to take some photos of their little girl, C. They were gracious enough to reschedule our original session, since Mother Nature has had it in for me this fall, and keeps sending pouring rain for my sessions. Thankfully, our rescheduled day was a gorgeous, beautiful, bright fall day in New England. Take that, Mother Nature!

C just turned one recently, and literally had taken her first steps a couple of days before our shoot! By the time I showed up, she was running around like a pro, you’d never guess she just picked up this new skill. Since the weather decided to cooperate, we were able to go outside for some of the session, so C could play on her awesome swing set, and practice her walking and running.

That Golden Light

August 17, 2009

I recently took a trip up to Beverly for a session with this wonderful family. It was a combo family/kids/maternity session, and so much fun! Our session was during what us photographers like to refer to as “the magic hour”–as in, the hour or two just before sunset, when everything is covered in this honey colored evening light. I LOVE shooting during this time, and highly recommend it for all of my clients! The soft, diffused light at this time of day is something I like to take full advantage of–we have even less of it up here in New England, so I have to jump on it while I can!

(This post is a little pic heavy–I couldn’t stop processing these images, there were so many awesome ones to choose from!)

The “P” family is expecting baby #3 at the end of September, doesn’t mom look just radiant? I WISH I was this glowing when I was pregnant with Lila.

These two were so patient with me, and SO cute.

We let them run around a bit, which they loved.

I love everyone’s expressions in this next one–I love capturing moments like this! The kids were cheering because we told them this was the last one, and they could go run around some more.

Then mom and I went off for a little bit to capture these stunning shots. The next couple may look familiar to the photo in the blog header–I just couldn’t wait to put that up there. Here are a couple more from the same location.

I’ll end with my favorite shot. I don’t usually make things this artsy, but I couldn’t stop myself on this one. It may now be my new favorite photo.

Thank you guys for having me, I had such a fun time with you. I can’t wait to meet your newest addition in a few weeks!
