And now they are a family of four! Their son Will was born in October, and they wanted some updated photos with him, and I was more than happy to see them again. I LOVE catching up with clients, it’s one of my favorite things about my job. Coincidentally, they live pretty much across the street from our old home in South Boston, so it was awesome to get back to the old ‘hood again and see how things have changed. (Even more coincidentally, one of my wedding couples for this year also live on the same street – none of us knew each other when we were living there – talk about a small world sometimes!)

Well, she’s almost 7 months by now. I had the pleasure of meeting up with Kendall and her parents last month to take her six month photos. This was an extra special session for them, as they’ll be moving soon, so this was the last time we would be shooting at their place in Cambridge. Kendall was a little apprehensive when I first got there, but totally warmed up by the end. She is SUCH a sweetheart! Below are just a few of my favorites.

We decided to meet at Tougas Family Farm, a local apple orchard in Northboro MA. We were on a mission to get their session in on a non-rainy day ( remember last fall

? And all that rain??), and before I had Kellan, so we ended up at the orchard on one of the busiest and hottest days (80s in October!) last fall. And mom was determined to get photos in the adorable initial sweaters you’ll see below – I love them! We only had them wear the sweaters for a few minutes because it was so warm out. The boys loved the orchard, I think they each ate about 4 apples while we were shooting!

I think the boys loved it too, because we got to go on a little nature hike. :) I didn’t realize just how much the rain this summer and fall had flooded the beachy areas there, so we skipped them – I can’t have some of my favorite people ending up in the reservoir! We decided to meet at Capron Park in Attleboro, because it was midway for both of us. Little did I realize just how much there was to do there! Aside from their beautiful lawns and flower gardens, there is a giant playground for the kids, and a ZOO, complete with a splash pad. Talk about fun. (And distracting, ha!) We managed to get a few of the two little ones before their desire to play at the playground overcame them, and then we just went with it. You all know I love candids more anyway! :)

Spring and Mother Nature didn’t feel like cooperating for us, but once we finally had the forecast we wanted, boy was it worth it! Deep blue skies with wispy white clouds. Temps in the low 70s, with a beautiful breeze coming off of the water. And the view…well, I think the view speaks for itself.

This lovely family came from all around Boston to meet me at Piers Park in East Boston. If you are local to me, and haven’t been here, I demand you go there soon, before winter is back. It is a gorgeous location to see the city skyline from, has lush greens to have a picnic on, a playground for the kids, and my favorite part: the salty sea air. We met up in honor of their grandfather’s birthday–family photos as a birthday gift are my kind of gift! :)

When her mom got in touch with me about gifting a session to her daughter for their anniversary, I jumped at the chance to catch up with my old friend. See, I consider myself supremely lucky to grow up where I did. Sure, at the time I took it all for granted, and was the typical whiny teenager.

“Mom, there’s nothing to dooo!”

“I’m bored!”

“I can’t wait to get out of this place!”

Looking back these past few years, I realized my good fortune at growing up out in the boonies. Knowing almost everyone in town. Feeling safe no matter what time of day (or night) it is. Not knowing what Marc Jacobs, Anthropologie, Nordstrom, or premium denim even were until college (although I’m sure my husband wishes I STILL didn’t know about any of that designer stuff).  I’ve also made some amazing friends. People who I will always be comfortable around, no matter how much time has passed. Who I can catch up with and leave out parts of stories, because they were there for those parts, they already know the background. I love catching up with my childhood friends, I wish I could do it every day. :)
