I can’t believe it’s been almost a month since I last blogged! I don’t even know where the time went, I have no excuse. I have so many good things to share with you all! I’m going to start with this adorable little girly girl here, Ella. Seventeen month old Ella is our niece (J’s sister’s daughter), and she’s the sweetest little girl. Always in a good mood, and she just wants to RUN. You’ll see from the photos what I mean. She loves exploring! Below are just a few of my favorites from our quick session last weekend.

Another Marathon Monday

This really is the best day to live around here. I did a Marathon Monday post 2 years ago, which you can see here. It was scorching hot this year, almost 90 degrees, which is always a concern for the runners. We’ve gone to the Marathon in shorts & t-shirts (like today) and in winter coats and hats (in 2009) – you’ve gotta love the New England weather. Despite the heat, which I think impacted all the little ones in some way or another (Lila sobbed all afternoon that she missed the runners and wanted to go see them again – hello, 3 years old), we had a great time clapping and cheering on the runners.

Anyway! I just thought I would share a few images from today.

This first image makes me grin. I was bummed that I’d missed seeing Rick & Dick Hoyt this year – they’ve always been an inspiration to me, and I’ve been fortunate to photograph them two other times in my life. I thought I missed them in the chaos of looking out for all the kids that we were with. But in looking through the photos I took today, I noticed a familiar duo behind one of the State Police motorcycles – it was them! So while it’s certainly not the best shot of them, my heart is happy that I did in fact catch them this year.

We’ve already practically married these two off, but seriously, with the hand holding? At three years old??
I love this shot because it’s kind of reminiscent of one I took two years ago (last images from the post I linked above). Time flies!

A cause near and dear to my heart, for obvious reasons. My amazing cousin ran as part of the Children’s team this year, and when a woman handed me this balloon at the Marathon today, my heart soared. Cheesy, I know, but my life would be a whole lot different if it weren’t for this incredible organization.
Said amazing cousin I mentioned before. I couldn’t be more proud of this one right here!
And then my sister burst into the frame. If you know me, you know I’m cracking up, because of course that happened. I think it’s perfect like this. She’s run two marathons, and was especially concerned for everyone running in this heat, as she did in 2004 when temps were in the 80s as well. And yes, we both cried after she ran by.
Another Marathon Monday on the books! I can’t wait for next year.

And Will Makes Four | Boston MA Family Photographer

This beautiful family might look familiar to you (check out my header!). I did some family photos for their then-family of three back in November 2010. And now they are a family of four! Their son Will was born in October, and they wanted some updated photos with him, and I was more than happy to see them again. I LOVE catching up with clients, it’s one of my favorite things about my job. Coincidentally, they live pretty much across the street from our old home in South Boston, so it was awesome to get back to the old ‘hood again and see how things have changed. (Even more coincidentally, one of my wedding couples for this year also live on the same street – none of us knew each other when we were living there – talk about a small world sometimes!)

Anyway! Below are some of my favorites from their session. Enjoy!
How SWEET is this? I didn’t ask her to do it either – love when I catch these moments.
Will fell right asleep during our session, it was the cutest thing ever. And seriously – those eyelashes!

James | Worcester MA Newborn Photographer

Little James here was such a sweetheart during his session, he barely made a peep! Little boys love to sleep for me – I love it. Here are just a few favorites from his session.
And I had to end with mom’s favorite. Which is not surprisingly one of my favorites also, I just love how relaxed and natural he looks here.

Kendall is 6 Months! | Cambridge MA Childrens Photographer

Little Miss Kendall (her newborn session is here) is already 6 months old! Well, she’s almost 7 months by now. I had the pleasure of meeting up with Kendall and her parents last month to take her six month photos. This was an extra special session for them, as they’ll be moving soon, so this was the last time we would be shooting at their place in Cambridge. Kendall was a little apprehensive when I first got there, but totally warmed up by the end. She is SUCH a sweetheart! Below are just a few of my favorites.
This is Kendall’s signature move – the backbend. HAD to get some of her doing this. Kendall LOVES looking out this window from her mom & dad’s bed, so we had to get a few of her doing this.
At the end of our session, we took a short ride to the Kendall Square T stop, to get one last “remember when” photo. Memories!!
R&B, as always, it was so great to see you and see how big Kendall’s gotten! I just love you guys. I can’t wait to see you again at her one year photos! Best of luck with the move too!

Lyra | Cambridge MA Newborn Photographer

I met sweet little Lyra here, along with her parents, back in January at their home in Cambridge. She was a feisty tiny peanut, and decided she wanted to stay awake for her session – she didn’t want to miss anything! We were able to get her to sleep for a little bit, due in large part to her mom’s magic bouncing skills.

20 Minutes with an Almost Three Year Old

Happy Valentine’s Day!

I wanted to post this for two reasons:
1. I wanted to share a few shots from a little Valentine’s Day inspired shoot Lila and I did last week. I “made” a simple little set up for her preschool class Valentines – I don’t normally shoot this way. So this was somewhat of a personal challenge too.
2. I also wanted to share a tiny peek into what goes on in our sessions – Lila’s a bit more of a challenge for me than my regular clients, most likely because I have the camera on her daily, instead of maybe once a year. She knows all my tricks and bribes, and doesn’t give me an inch anymore. I have to WORK for my photos of her!

So all of these images are from a recent mini session (and I mean mini – the time stamps on these start at 10:58am, and end at 11:21am, with breaks in there to play with Kellan too) with Lila. She’s about to turn three years old in a couple of weeks, and she’s fully embraced the attitude that comes with being three already. Now those of you who know me KNOW I’m not crafty at all. And yes, I made those heart garlands you see – no laughing!

Without further ado, here is a little glimpse into what 20 minutes of a photo session with a three year old looks like.

Under it, to kick it – we must destroy it! And play with the outlet! (It’s a childproof outlet, and she didn’t play with it, promise.)
I fear for her teenage years.
But wait a minute! Mom always wins. Yes, yes she does.

7 Days New | Brighton MA Newborn Photographer

Little Rory here is one of the sweetest babies I’ve had the pleasure of photographing. He was such a tiny little guy, and slept so well for us! He was also my first session back after having Kellan, and I was so happy that he slept. His parents and I were able to commiserate on the sleep deprivation happening at both of our houses.
Rory was born just before Christmas, so we had to take a couple of shots in front of their tree. I love his little toes peeking out of the cocoon.

The M Family | Boylston MA Family Photographer

On this amazing and atypical warm winter day, I wanted to post one of my favorite sessions from last fall. I met this adorable family at the Tower Hill Botanic Gardens in Boylston MA for a sunset family session. The weather was perfect (warm, for October!), and the Gardens were just beautiful. I’d never been to Tower Hill before, and I can not wait to go back! Here are just a few favorites from that evening.
These last ones kill me – something about little girls and their dads. SO CUTE.
This was the gorgeous view we had at the end of the session. What a perfect night!
