First up is (obviously) her newborn photos. She was 13 days old here, and such a sweetheart.

Miss Emma proved to be another little girl who was resistant to my sleep charms–I swear, little girls love to give me a run for my money. She stayed awake for almost four hours during her session!

I still won out in the end though, as you’ll see.

I took newborn photos for both of them–and they both gave me quite a run for my money. Neither of them wanted to sleep for me–and trust me, we waited them out for hours. I think they knew I was their awesome aunt, and just wanted to hang out instead. :)

I thought I'd share a few from their sessions, before they're both driving and heading off to college.

First up, my sister's (2nd) daughter, baby C.

This is pretty much how our sessions (I tried twice! I really tried!) went:

My sister-in-law's daughter, baby E, has a double hip dysplasia, and is in a harness for most of the day, so her hips can heal properly. We took her out of it for

her session, but were still super cautious about not putting any stress on her hips. No posing on her belly or doing anything crazy, we want her to grow up healthy and strong! I think she talked to baby C before her session, and took notes on staying awake like a pro. :) She also finally gave in, but only as long as she was snuggled in a blanket–sounds good to me!

Well, they are now officially a family of four! (Five, if we count the dog, Murray.) Baby brother Owen arrived back in the beginning of October (I know, I’m so behind on blogging!), and I went over to take his newborn photos, and some updated family photos also. Little Owen was a peanut when he was born, at 6 pounds, 11 ounces. And he slept like a DREAM for me, for almost 3 hours! I’m hearing he’s not quite so complacent these days, so I’m glad we took these when we did!

ma_newborn_photographerThen we went out to get a couple new family photos. It was COLD this day, so we only took a few, we didn’t want Owen to be outside for long! I was trying to convince mom & dad to use this next shot for their holiday card, but no luck.

The story behind this one is that Jacob was a little wired from his nap, and just wanted to run around and play. So while dad was wrangling him for the photos, mom was standing there, perfect smile on her face, holding little Owen. I commented on how she was doing a great job at holding her pose while we waited for Jacob to look over, and she broke out with this pose instead. Fresh! I totally love this shot–those of you who know me know how I love the real moments! We also got some good ones for their holiday card, but I don’t want to spoil it for their friends and family, so this is all you’re going to see for now. :)

She did make us work for these photos–she was awake for over an hour before she finally gave in and fell asleep! But during the entire time she was awake, she barely made a peep. She was just looking around the room, watching her mom, watching me, taking it all in.

Dad is over in Afghanistan, he’s coming home at the end of this month, and I know his family is beyond excited to see him. He was able to watch little A being born by the wonder that is Skype! Well, their newest addition has arrived! Little J was one week old when the below photos were taken–and he was the most alert newborn! He was awake almost the entire time I was there (over 3 hours!). He was SO sweet, just loved being in mama’s arms, and was taking it all in.

His soft little newborn cry was so precious, quite different from the yells I’m hearing in our house lately. :)
