I LOVE that people come back every year to do new photos. It’s wonderful to catch up with families, and see how the kids have grown. (I also feel like I’ve said this before on here, so forgive me if I sound like a broken record!)

The day of our session was another one of those gloomy days we had so many of last fall – chilly, drizzly, soaking wet ground, and what we call “pea soup light” – flat, gray, and dull. We were determined to make it work for us, and the kids (cousins, I love how close they are!) did a fabulous job! Below are just a few of my favorites.

? And all that rain??), and before I had Kellan, so we ended up at the orchard on one of the busiest and hottest days (80s in October!) last fall. And mom was determined to get photos in the adorable initial sweaters you’ll see below – I love them! We only had them wear the sweaters for a few minutes because it was so warm out. The boys loved the orchard, I think they each ate about 4 apples while we were shooting!

Spring and Mother Nature didn’t feel like cooperating for us, but once we finally had the forecast we wanted, boy was it worth it! Deep blue skies with wispy white clouds. Temps in the low 70s, with a beautiful breeze coming off of the water. And the view…well, I think the view speaks for itself.

This lovely family came from all around Boston to meet me at Piers Park in East Boston. If you are local to me, and haven’t been here, I demand you go there soon, before winter is back. It is a gorgeous location to see the city skyline from, has lush greens to have a picnic on, a playground for the kids, and my favorite part: the salty sea air. We met up in honor of their grandfather’s birthday–family photos as a birthday gift are my kind of gift!

Thank you all so much for making the trip into the city to meet with me! It was wonderful meeting you, I hope grandpa loves his birthday gift.

Thanks for having me over, C family, it was (and always is) so great to see you all. Emma is such a sweetheart, and a perfect addition to your family. A, thank you also for making me try my first pierogies! They were delicious.

Looking back these past few years, I realized my good fortune at growing up out in the boonies. Knowing almost everyone in town. Feeling safe no matter what time of day (or night) it is. Not knowing what Marc Jacobs, Anthropologie, Nordstrom, or premium denim even were until college (although I’m sure my husband wishes I STILL didn’t know about any of that designer stuff).  I’ve also made some amazing friends. People who I will always be comfortable around, no matter how much time has passed. Who I can catch up with and leave out parts of stories, because they were there for those parts, they already know the background. I love catching up with my childhood friends, I wish I could do it every day.

B, it was so great catching up with you, and meeting your amazing family! I wish you guys the best in everything, and for happiness always. Thanks for letting me spend the morning with you!

I thought I'd share a few from their sessions, before they're both driving and heading off to college.

First up, my sister's (2nd) daughter, baby C.

This is pretty much how our sessions (I tried twice! I really tried!) went:

But I was able to sneak a few sleepy shots in too. C, you're no match for me! (Well, you have me beat in the cuteness department, I'll give you that.)

My sister-in-law's daughter, baby E, has a double hip dysplasia, and is in a harness for most of the day, so her hips can heal properly. We took her out of it for

her session, but were still super cautious about not putting any stress on her hips. No posing on her belly or doing anything crazy, we want her to grow up healthy and strong! I think she talked to baby C before her session, and took notes on staying awake like a pro. She also finally gave in, but only as long as she was snuggled in a blanket–sounds good to me!

Mom did a fantastic job with their clothing, and I LOVE how the colors look

with the fall colors in the garden. Four year old G was a fabulous model, she had so much energy and the camera clearly loves her. Mom and dad are wonderful people, so friendly and easy-going, they made my job far too easy. They're the kind of people we all want to be friends with–you know what I mean, I know you do. We had a great time at the garden, G played with what was left of the fall leaves (more than I thought there would be!), and we stopped by the Make Way For Ducklings statue towards the end of the session–luckily it was still early so there were only a few people there.
