Most of my clients are families, so you’ll probably see a lot of repeat faces from yesterday’s post!
(These next two are two of my all-time favorites, I still have to blog this session! From the same session as the two above them.)
Tomorrow I’ll be looking back on the weddings I shot. I am loving photographing weddings, I hope to do more next year (which is looking good, considering June is already totally booked!).

I won’t lie, when I was first starting out, I was the least excited about these sessions. All those people, looking everywhere but at me, not sure of what to do with their hands, wearing forced smiles as I tried to make them NOT say “cheese”…it just didn’t inspire me. Only once I started taking a different approach to these sessions did I realize their true potential–and I’m not talking money or sales for me here. Capturing a family’s true make-up, their real interactions and connections, showing their absolute love for each other–that’s what I’m talking about. Figuring out who was the funny one, the serious one, and watching them bring out the best in each other. I stopped worrying about making sure everyone was looking at me, and started making sure they were looking at each other. I now sit casually behind the lens, and wait for the Real Moments, instead of the really forced moments. And family sessions have surprisingly (to me) become my most favorite type of session. I LOVE watching families together, and seeing how they love each other.

With the exception of one of “the girls”, they ALL have BOYS. Between us, we have 11 kids. And 8 of them are boys. My daughter loves whenever we get to hang out with any of them, she’s such a little tomboy. She’s going to have her pick of boyfriends down the road (when she’s like 30 )!

I was home again a few weekends ago, and loved seeing everyone again. I met up with this family again to do some photos for them, including some of their new baby brother! See? ANOTHER BOY! Below are just a few favorites from the morning.
Photographers: this is how I engage 3 year olds. I let them “get me” with leaves. Sure, I may be picking pine needles and grass out of my shirt (even down my BACK) for days, but I get cute shots like these too.

This is real. These two are some of the best and most patient parents I know. Look at those smiles, with 3 little protesters in their arms!
Little 8 week old C fell asleep shortly after we came inside from playing, so I HAD to get a few of him in his crib. How precious is he??

Because I can’t just post without any photos, I will leave you with an old favorite you’ve seen on the blog before. This family has added a 5th member to their adorable family this year (another boy!), and I’ll be seeing them and meeting him when I go home. I CAN NOT WAIT.

We visited the ‘rents, and I was lucky enough to meet up with my longest-known friend (almost wrote “oldest”, but realized how that sounded!), and her amazing family, to get some updated family photos. Mom and I have known each other since we were a few months old, and I still remember the days of sleeping over her house (ask her about how I’d wake up super early to read all of her Babysitter’s Club books, haha), and her teaching me how to curl my bangs.

And now we’re both moms with families of our own! Although, with her adorable twin boys, I have a feeling it’s going to be more about sports and trucks than Babysitter’s Club and hair in her house.

I’ve been photographing these little guys since they were months old, and now they’re TWO. Time flies!! They are the most energetic boys, they loved running all over their yard, having tickle fights with mom, being tossed in the air by dad, and dancing to “ashes, ashes, they all fall DOWN!”.

We also ran up to the nearby apple orchard for some quick photos at the end, make sure you scroll to the bottom of this post to see the fabulous Berkshire County foliage!
