1|52: Out and About

I’m back! Sorry to leave you hanging there, I had a little computer issue to resolve, and it took longer than expected. But I’m back online again! I promised I’d announce my personal project for 2011, so here goes. 🙂

As I was pulling my favorite images from last year’s project, I noticed an ongoing theme: a lot of the images were taken at home. In the living room, on the couch, in the yard. Now, I LOVE being home. I’m a homebody. I could entertain myself for hours with little projects around the house. But now that I have an almost 2 year old, with the energy of three 2 year olds, I don’t get much quiet time. My solution to that is to stay busy in the mornings, and get Lila nice and tired for her nap. Then I can count on some coveted down time in the afternoon (at least for now!). 🙂 So I don’t think last year’s project reflected our crazy mornings quite as well as I’d like. Which leads me to this year’s theme.

I’m going to call it “Out and About”. The main rule here is that none of the photos for this project can be taken at home–in the house or in the yard. I AM going to be allowing color or black & white this time around, so expect a mix of both. And the park across the street is totally fair game!

Before I post this week’s image, I am going to leave you with the last home-based images you will see from me for the year (well, for this project anyway!). We got Lila a play house for Christmas, and she LOVES sitting in it reading, and watching her new aquarium that her Nana and Baba got her for Christmas. (And yes, she’s wearing skinny jeans. I can’t help it, I love dressing her up!)
ashland_childrens_photographerNow, on to 1|52! This shot may not seem like much, but it really defines Lila these days: determined and stubborn. We were at our good friend’s house today for a playdate, and you can see the area in front of the tv is blocked off by a gate. Gates don’t deter our little one, she just moved it right out of her way, and stood where she wanted anyway, despite our telling her repeatedly to not touch the gate. Fresh.
1|52I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday, and a great welcome to 2011! I can’t wait to see what 2011 has in s

tore for my business, I have big plans over here. 🙂 Thank you all for your continued support, I couldn’t do this without you!

  1. love that playhouse!!!! the little owl is darling but not as cute as that little girl of yours!!! what a sweetie. and i agree – there’s something about skinny jeans on little girls. perfect!!! happy new year. xo

  2. I was considering doing only B&W for my 52 project this year because I kept thinking about all your images from last year.  In the end, I think I'm going to stick with a mix of both.  Looking forward to another year of your photos!
