A sunset family session is one of my favorite things, and I’m pretty sure you can tell if you’ve been here before. I have this obsession with the sun, which I never realized until I picked up a camera. (I’m a little crazy.) Speaking of crazy, I’m about to do something I can’t believe I’m doing…sharing a link to my First Ever Newborn Session. This was from eight years ago, so please be gentle, haha! Eight! I’m sharing because this hilarious, wonderful family below belongs to the squishy, sleepy baby in that blog post. She’s 8 now, and has a little sister AND brother. (I’m sure she loves me re-linking to her baby photos too. L, forgive me!) I’m in a nostalgic mood lately because of all the back to school stuff.
Little did I realize way back then, that stepping foot in their home to capture newborn photos of their oldest baby would mean they’re stuck with me for life now. Mom hired me on a recommendation from a mutual friend. Now we might text a lot and our kids are growing up together. Reading Harry Potter together. Perhaps (or someday soon) complaining about their moms together. It was meant to be!
For this session, we went to one of my favorite local spots at sunset, which sits at the top of a small (not small) hill. Tall grasses and wide open walking paths make for a variety of options for photos. We let the kids run around and take some breaks as needed, and we also didn’t have to worry about cars or anyone falling into any water. It happens! I made them stand in all of the golden hazy gorgeousness, it’s a requirement for sunset sessions. The kids hammed it up for me (on their own accord), and I completely love how much expression is in their photos as a result!
Below are a few of my favorites from their sunset family session. C fam, you know I love you all.
