I introduced you all to Ben through his newborn session earlier this year. Well, guess what? He’s already six months old! Actually, he’s seven months now, because I made these photos a little over a month ago. I met Ben and his parents back at their adorable home for his six month session, and Ben happily played, sat on his own, and showed me his fondness for bananas. You all know how much I love catching up with my clients, and this time was no different! Ben’s grown so much since his newborn session, and is such a happy little… Keep reading
Blog
Elle
This is sort of a double blog post – lots of photos. I’m combining this beautiful family’s maternity and newborn sessions here, because I didn’t realize I never blogged their maternity session! (I don’t think I did – hopefully I’m not repeating myself!) We met up last fall for a maternity session, I’m now dreaming while remembering the beautiful weather that day. We took a little walk on the land behind their home for their session. I love being able to do maternity sessions for my newborn clients, especially when they have older siblings – it gives us all a… Keep reading
Five
Oh, Lila. You’re five today. FIVE. How is that possible?? It feels like just yesterday that I was an all-knowing soon-to-be mom who eschewed the thoughts that my house would someday be overrun with brightly colored plastic and tape adhesive all over my walls from your art projects. Yet, here we are. I haven’t given in to the minivan yet (well, we did once, but that’s another blog post altogether!), but I’ve let you overtake my once reasonably well-styled living room with your Barbie Dream House and princess dresses. With your countless papers with the names of our family members… Keep reading
Catching Up
Familiar faces. I’m sure you’re surprised. But you should be! This sweet family is another of my repeat clients, and they moved out of state earlier this year, much to my dismay. Their son is close in age to mine, so when I was working on his Baby Plan (newborn, 6mo and 1 year) sessions, we always had a lot in common to commiserate talk about. When I found out they were moving away, my heart sank just a bit, because I’d gotten to know them a lot over that first year, and I get attached to people. I knew… Keep reading
Nora
This little sweetheart is probably walking by now. Ok, not really, but it’s been a while! I met sweet Nora back in the late fall for her newborn session. I did her big brother’s newborn photos a couple of years ago, and was thrilled when their mom got in touch with me that James was going to have a little sibling soon! You all know how I love seeing my clients down the road, and catching up on life – so I was pretty excited about this session. Nora was a dream for her session, and slept through pretty much… Keep reading
On Trust
Sometimes being an artist can be a little frightening – if I dare even call myself an artist. There is a tremendous amount of self-doubt, criticism, and insecurity that comes into play when your business relies primarily on your vision. Putting yourself out there and saying “I love this, and I hope you do too” is slightly nerve-wracking! I’m sure many of my fellow photographers can also attest to the fact that our social media feeds look really pretty – we have amazing and talented friends and peers, who are constantly creating and being inspiring. It’s easy to get caught… Keep reading
2013 Favorites: Personal
I’m ending my 2013 favorites series with some of my favorite personal images (mostly of the kids) from the last year. I like to try to spare the rest of my family from my incessant need to photograph everything…L & K aren’t quite so lucky. But if anyone’s feeling left out, you let me know, and I’ll be sure to remedy that asap! ๐ Thank you to my family, friends, and clients, for an amazing 2013! I appreciate your support, encouragement, and business. I have big plans on the way for 2014, so please stick around! ๐
2013 Favorites: Weddings
And a few engagement photos too. As you may know, I photograph a few weddings each year with my lovely friend Sarah over at Sarah & Meg. We have been bad bloggers over there this year, and I am ever so slightly (read: a whole lot) OCD about being organized, so I wanted to post my favorite wedding and engagement images here on my regular blog, with all of my other favorites from this year. Weddings are some of my favorite events to photograph – the anticipation, the emotion, the cake. ๐ Being a part of such an important day… Keep reading
2013 Favorites: Families
I have the privilege of having some amazing families for clients. They trust me to capture their individual personalities, as well as their unique family dynamic, and I am honored each and every time. It’s not easy “being yourself” in front of a stranger. Yes, the kids are a bit easier to charm – but remember, I bring toys. I don’t bring toys for the parents. ๐ ย You’ll see a few familiar faces, but you probably already knew that. I talk about my love for my returning clients regularly on here. ย Below are just some of my favorites from last… Keep reading
2013 Favorites: The Kids
These little faces, they are a huge reason why I love my job. Their personalities, our conversations; they’re amazing and wonderful. I will usually try to bring a couple of my kids’ smaller toys along as an ice breaker – so you may see bits and pieces of princesses or trains peeking around the frame. ๐ These sessions usually involve a lot of running around, singing silly songs, and making up stories – and a lot of laughter. It was incredibly hard to narrow these images down! Below are some of my favorite images of your children from 2013.
