Familiar faces. I’m sure you’re surprised. But you should be! This sweet family is another of my repeat clients, and they moved out of state earlier this year, much to my dismay. Their son is close in age to mine, so when I was working on his Baby Plan (newborn, 6mo and 1 year) sessions, we always had a lot in common to commiserate talk about. When I found out they were moving away, my heart sank just a bit, because I’d gotten to know them a lot over that first year, and I get attached to people. I knew we’d stay in touch, but it isn’t the same as getting to crouch down and ask him if he loves trucks or dinosaurs better, and get a shy smile in return, before he runs off to go down the slide again.
When mom emailed me to tell me they were coming for a visit, and could I squeeze them in, I said yes without hesitation. Drive into the city in late November, and hope for decent weather? Of course! Make it a little on the early side so I can get to my wedding that afternoon? Absolutely. And with that, plans were made.
As they were visiting local friends, we decided to take a walk around the block for photos – we had to, with the beautiful historic brownstones all around us, and the sun shining, masking the bitter winter air that was creeping in. We started on their friends’ roof deck, in the hard mid-morning sun. Mother Nature was not so kind to us up there, the wind was whipping something fierce, and the sun was blinding (NOT complaining, especially right about now!). I still love these photos, as they show what a go-with-the-flow, fun-loving family they are.
I love shooting in the city, I don’t get in there often enough! It’s on my list this year to do more in Boston, it’s such a beautiful city. We finished our walk up at the nearby playground, so R could run off some energy – he was such a good sport during photos, a little slide time was necessary! I loved watching his face light up each time he got to try a different slide, or climb up the ladder. S family, it was so, so great to see you again! Thank you so much for fitting me in to your whirlwind weekend here in Boston. I hope our plans work out for this summer too, it would be wonderful to catch up again!
What beautiful memories you captured for this family! Gorgeous!
What a fun session. Love the location and the playground looks like fun.
These are breathtaking and SO. MUCH. FUN! Great job!
Oh, these are such beautiful images and what a lovely family! I love the deep, warm colors. I bet the family is so thankful to have these images with their former home as the backdrop!
Wow! These are really nice!
