2010 was the year I ate my words, in more ways than one. I did a lot of things as a mom I swore I’d never do (listen to Laurie Berkner, watch Barney willingly, ignore the mess, forsake my beloved shopping days for kiddie gym class, you name it). Business-wise, I always swore I’d never shoot weddings. Too much pressure, too long of a day, and giving up one of my two precious days a week with my family. Then I (second) shot one. And was hooked. I loved shooting weddings. Those little moments I loved shooting already–the ones where… Keep reading

2010 Favorites | Families
Ahhh, families. I won’t lie, when I was first starting out, I was the least excited about these sessions. All those people, looking everywhere but at me, not sure of what to do with their hands, wearing forced smiles as I tried to make them NOT say “cheese”…it just didn’t inspire me. Only once I started taking a different approach to these sessions did I realize their true potential–and I’m not talking money or sales for me here. Capturing a family’s true make-up, their real interactions and connections, showing their absolute love for each other–that’s what I’m talking about. Figuring… Keep reading
2010 Favorites | Children
Fair warning, this will probably be a long post. 🙂 I just LOVE my kid clients, and get so attached to them. I always love hearing how everyone is doing (yay for moms who love staying in touch!), and LOVE getting to see them again. See? Two sentences, and I used “love” three times. I’m such a s ap! On to the photos. Sit tight, and keep scrolling. 🙂 I just realized I haven’t blogged this session yet either. You’re going to flip, just WAIT. One of my faves from the entire year.
2010 Favorites | Maternity and Newborn
Day 2 of my week of favorite photos: maternity and newborn. I just had to combine these two, because they go so hand-in-hand with each other. 🙂 I do have one more favorite, but the little girl’s birth announcements haven’t gone out yet, so I can’t share just yet–I will in her regular blog post though! 🙂 Up tomorrow, the kiddos. I thought this post was long…but I have a feeling that one could be longer! Happy Monday! I hope you’re not all quite as buried by snow as we are, I think we got 18″ overnight. It’s a winter… Keep reading
2010 Favorites | Because
I am going to be posting every day this week! I know! I’m so excited too. 🙂 I wanted to share with you some of my favorite images from all of my sessions this year. Some will have already been blogged, some haven’t. I am not going back to check what I’ve already shown, I am just going with what I love at this moment. First up is going to be more of a mix of sessions I don’t do as often as some of the others. These will include my beloved “Because” sessions, high school seniors, engagements, etc. Later… Keep reading
Heading Home to the Berkshires
I just wanted to put up a quick post, I am going to be making a trip back home to my hometown of Pittsfield in a couple of weeks! I don’t get back as often as I’d like, but I LOVE it when I get the chance. If anyone in Berkshire County is looking to have photos done, you’re in luck! I have some time on Saturday afternoon, October 9, please email me for more info (megan@meganjanephotography.com). My mini sessions that I posted about here can also apply, but there will be some travel restrictions, so contact me if you’re… Keep reading
Ahhh, September
September already, wow! I feel like just yesterday, we were at our family’s Memorial Day picnic. This is my absolute favorite time of year, so I’m pretty giddy these days. I wanted to get a few updates and reminders out there, as fall is typically my busiest season, both professionally and personally. It’s going to be December before I know it! First up. Now is the time to start thinking about holiday photo sessions and/or holiday cards. I know! It’s crazy. Summer is barely over (actually, these days, it feels like it’s still in full swing, with those scorching temps!),… Keep reading
Friends & Sisters | Boston Portrait Photographer
My future sister (in-law, but she is my new sister to me). Marrying my little brother, next month, and I can’t wait! These were all taken in Newport a few weeks ago at her bachelorette–what, did you really think I’d waste the opportunity to get some shots of the day? The weather was so eerie all morning and afternoon, due to heavy rain and fog. Did that deter us from heading to a local winery ? No way! We got the girls together for some silliness, which was so fun! It’s making me think about offering Friends sessions. I don’t… Keep reading
Surly Johnson | Boston Events Photographer
As much as I can say I don’t like change, I get so inspired when I get to switch things up a little when working. Usually, I’m outside, and very often with little kids and their parents. Which I absolutely love! I also love getting to do new things, or refresh dusty skills I haven’t used in a while. Last week, I took on something a little different: a sports bar grand opening. My destination? Surly Johnson Sports Bar & Grill, in Raynham, MA. The owners were holding a private party for their friends to celebrate the opening of the… Keep reading
Taking Some Risks | Ashland Photographer
**Make sure you scroll past that last photo, there is something some of you will want to read down there!** This post has been a long time coming! I’ve been putting it off for a few reasons: first, to get through busy season, and make sure my clients were all taken care of. Then, the holidays were here, and it was our daughter’s First Christmas, so we had a lot of fun events and things to do for that. Also, I had plans to incorporate a new endeavor with this post, so I wanted to make sure we were good… Keep reading
