Gwen and Kevin’s wedding took place last fall (I know! So behind!), at a unique location, the Eric Carle Museum in Amherst, MA. Yes, that Eric Carle, who wrote the Hungry Caterpillar, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, and countless other children’s books I’ve become very familiar with since having kids. I LOVE photographing weddings at non-traditional venues, so I jumped at the chance to work with them – their amazingly sweet and wonderful personalities also made this a no-brainer. š Sarah was of course by my side for the day, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Gwen and Kevin planned on plenty of time for photos of just the two of themĀ before their ceremony in the apple orchard at the museum. I love it when we have time to use a few different spots, and get to orchestrate the perfect First Look! We had a lot of fun walking around the grounds of the museum, and making the most of the animal sculptures and art.
This little girl was leaving the museum when Gwen arrived – she was so starstruck at seeing Gwen in her wedding dress, it was adorable!
Oh, how I loved Gwen’s dress. I think I told her about a hundred times that day. The layers and structure were right up my alley – it’s gorgeous!
Gwen paid such attention to every detail – check out her drawing of how the escort table should look!
Instead of a traditional wedding cake, Kevin & Gwen decided to have a giant tower of fresh apple cider doughnuts, made earlier that day over at nearby Atkins Farms. Ā Having attended college over at UMass Amherst (a million years ago), I was well aware of how addictive and amazing these are.Ā The doughnuts were still warm when they arrived at the museum, andĀ it was all I could to do stop myself from running off with about 50 of them! (Seriously – you can order them online now. Do it. You’ll thank me later.)Ā These are the readings that were read during the ceremony. Another detail not overlooked by Gwen, she printed them using the same apple tree that was on their invitation.
Gwen & Kevin, thank you both for being so sweet and welcoming, and having that doughnut tower! Your wedding was just beautiful, and I’m so glad Sarah & I were there to capture it. I hope to see you again soon! š
