September through November here in New England is what we all wait for, right? Fall is high tourist season, high activity season, and my busy season for fall photos. There are apples and pumpkins to be picked, leaves to be raked and jumped in, foliage to admire, crisp mornings, a fond peace out to the humidity – these are my months, my friends. I live for this.
Last fall, I was able to meet up with one of my lovely family clients for new fall photos. I had last seen them when their little guy was just a few days old – so seeing him walking towards me was such a treat! Yes, I fawn over my clients’ kids, and getting to watch them grow up. I can’t help it. I met Finn and his parents at Boston College, where they met. We walked around campus to some of their favorite spots, and let Finn lead us to a few of his also (anything with water!). It was a colder, damp day, but you’d never know it from the photos. Campus on a Sunday morning is quiet and calm, and we loved have the place basically to ourselves.
This session is another good example of working with the weather. The overcast morning allowed the brilliant yellow leaves and foliage to shine in their session. It kept the hard shadows of mid-morning sun at bay. We were working around Finn’s nap schedule, which is so very important to me. Happy kids are fun to photograph! The quieter atmosphere also worked really well with allowing Finn to explore and not feel overwhelmed with the normal bustle of a college campus. The campus itself is also gorgeous, so very quintessential New England.
