Sometimes being an artist can be a little frightening – if I dare even call myself an artist. There is a tremendous amount of self-doubt, criticism, and insecurity that comes into play when your business relies primarily on your vision. Putting yourself out there and saying “I love this, and I hope you do too” is slightly nerve-wracking! I’m sure many of my fellow photographers can also attest to the fact that our social media feeds look really pretty – we have amazing and talented friends and peers, who are constantly creating and being inspiring. It’s easy to get caught up in everyone else’s visions, and forget about our own. Trusting myself is hard – but necessary. So, I’m bringing some of my focus back to my favorite ways of making photos this year – are you ready?
I’ve got a lot of ideas floating around in my head. Ideas for photo sessions that I’d like to start bringing to fruition. Styling, timing, location, even the shots I’d want to take. This is where you come in. I need your help doing this – my kids are not the most cooperative models out there, and they’re a little sick of me anyway. 🙂
Do you (or would you) trust me? To capture your family as you really are – really are. Not in matching jeans and solid colored t-shirts. Interacting with each other, not looking at my camera with a forced smile. So you can look at an image of your son, and see his soul underneath that good-natured smirk. See the love your daughter has for her daddy, the way your wife watches over all of you. These memories and moments are just as special to me as the planned sessions of holiday cards, birthdays, and family reunions – if not more so, because of their authenticity and candor (hey now, vocab words). I also have ideas for styled sessions, and some dependent on specific weather conditions and times of year – my head is a busy place these days.Â
If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, fill this out, and tell me about you! If you’re not sure, but you think you might be interested – fill it out too! There is nothing binding here on your end, and your information is for my eyes only, it’s totally private. I will be reading over all of the submissions, and getting in touch with a few people who I think will best match up with my ideas. You also don’t necessarily need to live near me – I have a few trips planned this year (Vermont, NYC, Austin, I’m looking at you!), or you could be planning your Boston vacation as I type this.
What’s in it for you, you may ask? Read on.
If I contact you for a Signature Session, your only responsibility is to trust me. I’ll have creative control over your session – so I will choose wardrobe (we will work on this collaboratively – no need to purchase new clothing unless you want to!), session time, location, and overall style. I will be shooting for my ideas, so there are no guarantees of any specific photo requests. You will not pay a session fee, and you will receive the digital files from your session. Any additional products will be made available at a discounted price.
Again, head over here to send me your information if you’re interested in me possibly contacting you – there is no deadline or cutoff. I will be getting in touch with people starting next month. I won’t be able to reply to everyone who submits their info, but please know in advance how appreciative I am of your interest in working with me! Thanks so much for reading! I can’t wait to hear from you, and to start creating something amazing together!

Oh, how I wish I lived close to you, Megs…for so many reasons, this being just one of them! I know you are going to do amazing work with these ideas you have, and I can’t wait to see that work!
