I knew when Paula told me she & Chris were planning their Newport wedding that we were in for a SUPER fun weekend. I’ve known Paula for years, as she grew up next door to my cousins. Since I knew that they all ran in the same social circles, it became pretty obvious. This wedding was going to be the most fun, and I could. Not. Wait. I’ve been to Newport many times over the years, and it is just fun, always. We first did Paula & Chris’ engagement photos on a 100 degree day in July (and they both wore pants!), so I knew that no matter what the weather, we’d make the most of it. We had the most bizarre weather that day, typical New England. Full sun to filtered sun, to dense thick fog. I mean, really. This part of the country loves to challenge us all year round!
Newport isn’t necessarily FAR from me, but it’s not super close either. Add to that my spectacular timing of the bridge closing as we approached due to a car fire, and well, let’s just say it was a great idea to make a weekend of it. If I had driven down on Saturday, I would have been stressing out so much. But all was well and we made it with plenty of time to shop and walk around and enjoy a fun dinner the night before. A+ planning on my part. Who is we, you ask? Well I *had* to fly in my soul sister Meg of Meg Sexton Photography. She was with me for the other weddings with this crew, so there was no question. I’ll also use any excuse to see her, so it was perfect.
Wedding posts are always long, so settle in! Some of Paula & Chris’ Newport wedding favorites are below.
